College of Dentistry/ Muthanna University had been established in 2012 on an area of 25000 m2 at the side of Euphrate river in the center of Samawa city. The college contains 7 departments which are Oral diagnosis, Basic sciences, Oral and maxillofacial surgery, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Prevention- Orthodontics- Pedodontics (POP). The teaching period is 5 years through which, the students undergo annual teaching system containing both theoretical and practical requirements dividing to 1st semester, mid year, 2nd semester and final exam. There are 4 lecturing wards supplied by audio and screening systems, in addition to 2 seminar rooms. The college contains 11 laboratories for basic sciences, phantom, prosthetic work and dental anatomy. The college also contains teaching hospital of 70 dental chairs with all accessories, x ray equipments (digital periapical and OPG with cephalometric), CAD CAM II and two operation rooms for oral surgery and periodontal surgery to serve in training of 4th and 5th year students under supervision of specialists.
